Description
Beck’s is a pale German pilsner brewed by the Bremen-based Beck’s Brewery. However, because Beck’s is wholly owned by AB InBev, the beer you drank was most likely brewed in St. Louis.
Pale Lagers are typically straw-colored, up to a light gold in colour, with a white head. The flavour is light and dry, with only a hint of malty sweetness. A little crisp hop bitterness without an overpowering hop aroma.
Most “macrobrews” will be similar, though the standard “American” variant of Pale Lager, such as Budweiser or Miller, will have a corn sugar flavour and will likely be lighter in body. Beck’s claimed to follow the German Beer Purity Law, which forbids the use of an additive like corn.
