Don Perignon

Description

The 2008 Dom Pérignon is a massive, powerful Champagne that is clearly one of the vintage’s best. This is one of the most reserved bottles I’ve tried. So much so that I’m considering not opening any more bottles! The 2008 has always displayed a remarkable interplay of fruit and structure. The richness of the fruit is especially noticeable today. Readers who own the 2008 should be ecstatic, but patience is required. (Originally published by Antonio Galloni in May 2021)

Notes on Wine Tasting
The opening bouquet is complex and luminous, with white flowers, citrus, and stone fruit mingling. The freshness of aniseed and crushed mint adds to the overall effect. The final aromas are displaying spicy, woody, and roasted notes. This wine is finally opening up after a long period of reluctance. The nose and palate are both perfectly balanced. Its slender, minimalist, pure, toned, athletic personality now exudes warmth. The fruit is distinct and distinct. The acidity of the vintage is extremely well integrated in this wine. Its persistence is predominantly aromatic, grey, smoky, and promising.
